Long Jump Track – Little Athletics Centre, Algester
Here is a slideshow of a recent job we have just completed for a Little Athletics Centre. This involved the creation of a new run up track into an existing long jump pit. This job took nearly six weeks to complete but this is mainly due to the fact that once the concrete had been poured it needed to ‘cure’ for 4 weeks. The surface used here is state of the art Spurtan BV™ supplied by Sports Technology International one of the worlds leading sports surface suppliers, and is the surface that is being used at the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast. This is an IAAF approved system that is used in International Athletics meetings across the world. So the kids of this Little Athletics Centre can truly say they have now got a world class long jump track..! This is something we as a company are very proud to have been involved with. Building long jump tracks is a very specialised discipline and the surfacing that was used required great attention to detail when applying all the relevant coats. The finished result is fantastic and is the envy of all the regional Little Athletics Centres. We hope to help more of these centres to improve the general standard of the sporting facilities to the benefit of the whole community.
The Committee of the centre were thrilled with the final result and there was an official opening ceremony that coincided with the centres 30th anniversary. The track was officially opened by Anthony Shorten MP, Sate Member for Algester.
